I’m up extra early this morning, and will be for as long as I can forsee. I start a new job today and said goodbye to my last one of 2.5 years yesterday. It’s always scary starting something new, but the decisions we make are what define us, what help us grow and evolve, so I took the chance when it was offered. It was a pretty restless sleep last night, so I’m hoping my hour and a half commute (each way) won’t find me dozing. Anyway, the type this week is all about this new chapter/change happening today in my life..starting fresh and a bittersweet farewell to where and who I was before.

Just finished this project, and I’m super excited to share! The Dueling Mixers is a new cupcake shop concept based around a dueling theme..below you’ll find the logo, collateral, menu details and website splash and home page.

Some sketch’d type this week, playing around with a different style/having some fun (and yep, my initials really are tlc)

This week had me thinking a lot about how temporary things are in life – not in a negative way, but in a don’t-get-too-stressed-it-won’t-last-forever type of way..hence the type this week. Also, a monogram t, because we all know that’s the best letter, right?..RIGHT??!

a couple type pieces this week..my current drink of choice, and because it’s been more than a little breezy here lately..some high winds.

When I was in college, I was working part time as a customer service associate at a grocery store. One day, an 80 year old man who had come in before, just talking to talk, asked me to check his scratch off lotto ticket to see if he had won. He talked sweetly of his passed wife, and how he kept himself busy day by day with his grandkids and his sister. I handed his loser ticket back to him apologetically. He held my hand that was holding his ticket, looked into my eyes and said, “well, you know..whatever you’ve got, you’ve gotta go with it.” It was so profound to me in that moment, as he left the customer service desk, I reached for a post it, jotted these words down, and put it in my pocket to carry with me the rest of my life. This was over 5 years ago now, and not to sound cliche, but it really is as if it were yesterday. Regardless, 80 year old man, this one’s for you.

I think this post is the only thing these three things will ever have in common.

a lyric from Blind Pilot’s song, Oviedo:
